
On 22nd August, the dance returns to the Ancient Theatre of Taormina with Les Italiens de l'Opéra de Paris. Extraordinary guest is the world-renowned artist Marianela Nunez. The Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation focuses on the dance that has been missing from Taormina and its Theatre for some years with a magical evening on an initiative of the first dancer Alessio Carbone: 11 dancers who have managed to enter one of the most prestigious and competitive companies in the world, the guardian of the classical tradition and laboratory open to modernity. Les Italiens de l'Opéra de Paris will offer an anthology of solos and two excerpts from the great classical repertoire along with contemporary dance pieces. A Gala evening that offers the precious opportunity to see confirmed the significant artistic figure of Italian dancers active abroad. To embellish the evening the Argentine dancer Marianela Nunez principal dancer of the Royal Ballet where she played all the main female roles in the classical, dramatic and contemporary repertoire of the company. Throughout her career she has received several awards such as the Lawrence Olivier Award for Excellence in Dance and nominated for the Benois de la Danse Award. It boasts various collaborations with the most prestigious theatres in the world, alongside the most famous male performers of dance, such as Carlos Acosta and Roberto Bolle. Il repertoire of the group, reflects the vast repertoire of the great company French and varies from classic, neo-classical and contemporary. The two-step, solos and three steps presented demonstrate all the modernity of this historic Parisian school that recently celebrated its 300 years of tradition. Originally from Venice, Alessio Carbone directs and brings the Les Italiens de l'Opéra de Paris Company to the stage in the most important Theatres. The program, chosen to measure, highlights the great talent of each of the dancers alternating the classical repertoire with the contemporary one. They are Valentine Colasante, Letizia Galloni, Sofia Rosolini, Ambre Chiarcosso, Simone Velastro, Antonio Conforti, Francesco Vantaggio, Francesco Mura, Andrea Sarri and Giorgio Fourès.La presence on the scene of Marianela Nunez together with young Italian talents testifies to the artistic value of this group chosen by Taormina Arte to restart from Sicily the international dance.
